APMA is aware of an abstract presented at the 2021 meeting of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, which compares outcomes of surgery performed by podiatrists and orthopedic surgeons. While the abstract of this study was published in Foot and Ankle Orthopaedics, the paper in its entirety has not been published, nor to our knowledge has it been accepted for publication by a peer-reviewed journal. On April 10, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) began implementing the Provider Relief fund established by Congress, a $175 billion relief fund to assist health-care providers during the pandemic. The fourth round of application for Provider Relief Funds opens on September 30, 2021, and will close on October 26, 2021. The first reporting deadline for providers who received more than $10,000 in aggregated funds from the PRF from April 10, 2020 to June 30, 2020 must report by September 30, 2021, but HHS has extended a grace period of 60 days to report.
